DESCRIPTION: Seth Thomas Clock Co., Thomaston, Conn., rosewood veneer 8 day weight driven time and strike column & cornice shelf clock, c1870
CONDITION: there is an old finish, with minor veneer losses, on this large case. The original inside label remains, with some staining. The movement is stamped Plymouth, which usually indicates late 1860s, however Seth Thomas did not replace the "Plymouth" die for stamping the movements until years after Plymouth became Thomaston (probably until it wore out) & perhaps as late as the 1890's. All three glasses are old; the middle mirror and bottom glass are cracked. The painted metal dial has just a few losses, and nice script lettering. The two columns need to be secured at their bottoms. No weights. Ht 32.5"
